Petworth & Pulborough District Special Badges
In recent years the District has issued a couple of badges to be worn on the uniform directly under the usual District/County badge.
The first of these was to celebrate Scouting's Centenary in 2007. The second was to mark the District's own Centenary in 2010. It is interesting to note
that Major Grylls, the great grandfather of the present UK Chief Scout, Bear Grylls, was our first District Commissioner.
Both badges were awarded to those who were members of the District in the respective years, 2007 and 2010, and can be worn on their
uniform in perpetuity whilst they remain District members.
Petworth & Pulborough District Badges
For those badge collectors out there, there are many different variations of the District badge (reference ed103-8
International Badgers Club). All badges feature a stag's head, the District's emblem derived from the deer found at Petworth Park.
Six examples of the single badge are shown below with their respective backings.
Since 2006 there has been a double badge with the District badge combined with the West Sussex County one. The
first issue had a very yellow background (pictured top). The second edition (pictured bottom) has reverted to the gold background.
Both badges have a white backing.
