Beaver Scout Uniform

The Beaver Scout uniform is a turquoise crew neck sweatshirt worn over a pair of navy blue activity trousers or shorts. Items of uniform can be obtained from Scout Shops Ltd, who operate a mail order service and can be contacted on 01903 766921 or at www.scoutshops.com.

The Group neckerchief (also known as a necker) will be provided upon investiture as a Beaver Scout. Also issued will be a coloured woggle denoting to which Lodge a Beaver belongs.

Footwear should be black school shoes worn with either dark blue or black socks. Beaver Scouts is a uniformed organisation and attendance to meetings should be in full uniform unless otherwise notified by the Beaver Scout Leader. Trainers and Group teeshirts/sweatshirts should be brought along as a change of clothes for games etc.

Position of Badges on Uniform

The Group Badge is sewn onto the Group Necker. A small 5mm border of gold material surrounds the badge.

All badges will be provided as required. Sewing is the best way of attaching badges to the uniform. There is special 'badge glue' available from different suppliers for attaching badges to uniforms, however a difficult to remove residue is left behind if a badge has to be taken off the uniform.

The pictures on the left and right show the position of badges for a Beaver Scout in the Blackfoot Colony. The right arm (left picture) has the two name tapes along with the district & county badges and the special District Centenary badge, all positioned centrally under the shirt's embroidered Scout Logo.

The picture on the right, showing the left breast, has the Membership Badge with the Joining-In Award above. For 2007 we have the World Centenary Uniform Badge positioned directly above these.

Activity Badges, either yellow or light blue, are round and go on the left arm. If awarded a light blue Staged Activity Badge of a higher number than already gained, the higher number badge replaces the original. For example, if awarded the 5 Nights Away Badge then the 1 Nights Away Badge should be removed.

Challenge Badges are diamond shaped and go on the right breast directly under the Chief Scouts' Award if this has been attained.

If a Beaver Scout has been awarded the West Sussex Joint Activity Badge this is placed on the left arm between the elbow and cuff under any other Activity Badges.
