General Activities
Scouting offers a huge range of activities and events. These range from Jamboree on the Internet and Jamboree on the Air,
both popular activities with an international dimension, to traditional Scout pioneering and map and compass skills.
Land Activities
Land activities are a key part of the exciting 6-25 Programme. Young people are encouraged to try new activities
and develop their current interests through activities ranging from archery to rock climbing. We believe that by
taking part in safe but challenging activities, young people develop new skills and abilities.
Water Activities
Water activities give young people the opportunity to take to the water in a variety of challenging ways. These range
from high adventure water sports such as water skiing and offshore sailing to more traditional activities such as a
canal boat expedition. Sea Scout and Explorer Sea Scout programmes allow young people to undertake water activities
as a specialisation whilst following the Movement's 6-25 Programme.
Air Activities
Air activities in Scouting range from high adventure glider flights or parascending to kite making and visits to air
fields. As with Sea Scouts, Air Scouts and Air Explorer Scout programmes allow young people to undertake air activities
as a specialisation whilst following the Movement's 6-25 Programme

Creativity
Creative activities allow young people to express themselves in different ways. Through dance, music, art and craft
young people are invited to develop their talents or try something new. Creative activities can include circus skills,
urban street art, sculpture and photography. More traditional Scout activities such as Scout orchestras and Scout Shows
remain a popular way for young people to explore their creative talents.
Technology
Computing, electronics and amateur radio are just three examples of technology experienced by the modern Scout. Every
year thousands of Scouts throughout the world learn about each other and make new friends during Jamboree on the Air
and Jamboree on the Internet. For many young people it is Scouting that often opens the door to a career in technology
based industries.
Nights Away
Nights away are always popular with young people. In Scouting we pride ourselves on providing quality nights away events.
From traditional Scout camping to overnight expeditions and hikes, young people are given the opportunity to develop
skills and above all have fun! The Scout Association has recently launched a permit scheme to continue to ensure that
all young people benefit from well organised, high quality nights away.
